Listen to Me

"Move to the front," I told a kid last night on the bus. On Wednesday nights I ride the Church bus with my dad to pick up kids for our AWANA clubs. A young man "flipped the bird" while we were stopped at a stop light. We are on a Church bus and we have rules although we never told him out loud don't do that, I thought that was something that the kids just understood. I'm sure he knew he was not supposed to "flip the bird", but he did it anyways. This kid always gives me trouble anyways, he never listens to me whenever I tell him to do something. Most of the time when I tell the kids to do something they look at me like, "who are you, I don't have to listen to you." In reality we have no incentive to make them behave, but if they don't, we just don't let them come back the next week and if the offense is bad enough, like this one, they will not be coming back at all.

I am not a very outspoken person and when I tell these kids to do something I do not raise my voice at first because I don't want to yell at them. Usually, I end up yelling at them anyways because they just won't listen. I feel so bad when I yell at them but "you gotta do what you gotta do." I'll admit I liked yelling at this kid in particular because he has a way of pushing my buttons, but, when I yell at any of the others I regret it when I get home. I think to myself, "Am I acting like Christ would?" and, "Can these kids see Christ through me?" The one reason why we do this is to get these kids into Church so that they can meet Jesus and get saved. I just hope that we are making a difference.

kids can be annoying. i have worked with them before. don't worry about being like jesus. he is in you so just let him do it through you. good luck
