Free

"Jimmy, call on line one, Jimmy, line one," came over the intercom at work on Monday. Nobody ever calls me at work and a million things are going through my head including someone has died or something like that. When I picked up the phone I said, "this is Jimmy," and my sister was on the other line. She was wandering if I had any plans on tuesday night because she had some free tickets to a Mudbugs game. I told her, "Do you even have to ask? What kind of a question is that?" I have to say, free, is my favorite price and anytime I can get something for that price I take it.

She told me that one of the guys that works there is giving them to us because he needs a replacement for himself, because he is leaving the Sunday after next. She told me that her fiancee was the one who was going to take the position and that he was wandering if I wanted to do it too. I thought about it for a few seconds and said, "Sure." She told me that we get to go to all of the home games for "free" and that we get two "free" tickets apiece to each game so that we can bring our girls if we want to. It is not a paying job. It is a volunteer postion but you know me I can't pass anything up with the word "free" in it.

Tuesday night we went and worked our first game down there by the ice. The job really isnt that hard, most of the time we just stand against the glass and watch the game, and when the Mudbugs score we open the door and let all of the "Rink Rats" pick up the little "Mudbugs" that are thrown onto the floor. We also coordinate the intermission shows, but that is about it. The only drawback is that we have to go to every game now, but that is a small price to pay considering the games are "free."

I went to my first hockey game her in town a few weeks ago. I never new hockey could be so much fun. It was even better I went with a few friends. I am glade I remembered to bring a jacket to the game. It was nice getting free tickets to the game. Maybe they will hire you part time to continue helping the kids. So how many games have you gone to in the past? Is hockey your number one sport now? Or is that the winter sport that everyone goes to? I am still trying to figure out the sport. To me hockey is easy to watch.
