The Rolling Stop

As I sat on the bus Wednesday night, going to pick up some kids for awanas, I noticed something that most people don't really think about. When we came to a stop sign I noticed that the other car didn't make a complete stop. Most people think it is no big deal, but you can get pulled over for that. My friend Jessica got a hefty fine for doing one of those "rolling stops" a few years ago. Even though you are not supposed to do it many people , including myself, do. So, I am not trying to condemn anybody. I'm just trying to warn you because the cops are on the look out.

I actually have a legitimate reason for not stopping. My car's fuel pump is clogged up so bad that whenever I make a complete stop my car dies. The problem is so bad that it dies on me at least once, every time I back down my driveway. I am not trying to make up excuses for why I don't stop. I'm just trying to raise driver awareness. Also, It could only be a one-way or two-way stop and somebody runs into you, coming from the other direction.

Yeah, yeah! The rolling stop seems to be a time-honored procedure in small towns. I try to be aware of it, because we have a four-way stop right as we come off the bridge in Coushatta and many Really Big Trucks that come through. Stopping's important!
